Was the AC failing while the property was empty, or was the setting changed?

Either is possible. A current thermostat reading, its mode and any saved schedule help show the starting point. A stale app temperature cannot tell you when the house became warm or whether the equipment is running now.

Check the home before the cooling controls

If the indoor heat makes the home unsafe, go somewhere cooler while arranging help. If you find water, ice or an electrical smell, stop cooling from a safe thermostat and report that condition before requesting a normal no-cooling visit.

Do not start with a very low setting to catch up. First show whether the thermostat is in cooling mode and what temperature it is actually requesting.

Reconstruct only what you know

Write down the last date someone confirmed normal cooling in person. Add any power interruption, thermostat change or maintenance you know about. Mark guesses as guesses. A property that was unoccupied for weeks does not have a known failure time.

Notice whether air moves through the rooms and whether it feels cool or warm. A thermostat left in a different mode, reduced airflow and an equipment fault are competing explanations. One warm arrival does not identify the compressor or refrigerant as the cause.

Use the service address, not the mailing shorthand

The County planning map names East Naples and South Naples separately. They are combined here for navigation. Neither name defines a ZIP boundary or the correct permit office by itself. Give the street address and any unit identifier.

If a caretaker has the key, agree who can provide entry and who can authorize work. Tell the person arranging the visit whether the indoor unit or outdoor equipment is out of reach.

Save a useful baseline

Before any repair, ask for the observed failure and the evidence supporting the proposed work. A long absence does not by itself justify replacing equipment. If a new unit is suggested, ask why. Get a separate plan that explains the old unit’s condition and repair options.

Keep photographs and prior service records available. Do not assume old app access permits remote diagnostics or that the receiving technician can view the history without a specific arrangement.

Questions about this repair

Should I erase the schedule to start fresh?

Record it first. An away setting or scheduled change may explain part of the complaint and help avoid unnecessary work.

Can you tell when the fault began from a high temperature?

No. A single reading shows the condition now, not its duration or cause.
